| Here is the second of four successive original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. In the foreground is the tender for Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6432, a J-1A (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during September of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, the engine's been moved out of the East Altoona Roundhouse and parked just short of the Bridge. |
